Sofie Lybäck is a Fenno-Swedish actor and theatremaker born and raised in Kronoby, Finland, currently based in Stockholm.

Sofie holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from East 15 Acting School in London from which she graduated with distinction. She has also trained at Performing Arts School in Gothenburg and studied Viewpoints and Suzuki with SITI Company in New York.

Her work as a stage and film actor, dancer, choreographer and writer has been seen in a variety of productions in Finland, Sweden and the UK.

She appeared in the record breaking hit The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe covering the part of the White Witch (West Yorkshire Playhouse) and also featured in the critically acclaimed theatre adaptation of Fellini’s film La Strada (UK tour and West End run at The Other Palace). Both productions were devised by the ensembles and directed by the award winning Sally Cookson.

Selected Nordic theatre credits include: Cecilia in Cowgirls (The New Finnish Theatre in Stockholm and Swedish tour including Stockholm Dramatic Theatre), Signe Strömborg in Mitt Hjärtas Hem (Torgare Theatre in Finland), and Alterego in Hon som Fick Veta (Nordic tour by HjonTeatern and Kammaroperakompaniet). At Wasa Teater in Finland, she has appeared as Åsa in Ängland, Pamela in The Full Monty and Teretsita in West Side Story amongst others. 

Selected choreographer credits include: Next to Normal (Wasa Teater), The Wind in the Willows (Vaasa City Theatre), Hon som fick veta (HjonTeatern/Kammaroperakompaniet) and Mitt Hjärtas Hem (Torgare Theatre). Sofie has directed and choreographed musical theatre performances including Two Ladies by HjonTeatern.

As a producer, Sofie successfully revived the Torgare Theatre in Kronoby, Finland in 2014 through the theatre company HjonTeatern of which she is a co-founder. 

As a playwright, Sofie co-wrote Mitt Hjärtas Hem with Frank Skog and Isa Lindgren (2014-15) and re-wrote Vår Bygd vid Ån by Hans Fors (1984) for Torgare Theatre (2017). Both plays were critically acclaimed.

Sofie is a member of the unions Fackförbundet Scen & Film (Swe), Equity (UK), Suomen Näyttelijäliitto and Finlands Svenska Skådespelarförbund (Fin).
